Strong demand for REGATRON's high-current, low-voltage DC power supplies. Up to 2028 A output current per 10 U device.

REGATRON added the nominal output voltages of 60, 80, 160, 240, and 320 VDC to their successful bidirectional G5 power supply family. First devices were shipped on time in October 2022.

The existing G5 nominal output voltages of 500, 1000, 1500, 2000, and 3000 VDC have been extended to 60 (SELV), 80, 160, 240, and 320 VDC. These new models have correspondingly high output currents: A 10 U power supply with 80 VDC output voltage and 54 kW output power has an impressive permanent maximum current of 2028 A. This high output current is well suited for applications such as testing according to automotive standards, testing of 48 V micro/mild hybrid systems, testing and simulation of battery modules, fuel cells, and electrolyzers, and testing of a wide variety of high-current components. The unique dynamics and accuracy of the G5 power supply family allow for precise tests and simulations. For more information please refer to the accompanying downloadable product description of the G5.RSS series.

G5 High-Current Models

This picture shows the rear view of two high-current, low-voltage, bidirectional regenerative G5 DC power supplies. Each unit has the following nominal values: 18 kW / 80 VDC / 676 A.

Operating Graph

Thanks to the high autoranging factor of 3, the new G5 high-current DC power supplies are also well suited for 12, 24 and 48 VDC applications. The adjacent graph shows the characteristic output diagram of a 54 kW / 80 VDC G5 power supply.

VDA320 E48-02 Transient Overvoltage

The adjoining graph gives an application example. The test sequence shown is taken from the VDA320 standard and relates to the testing of electric vehicle components supplied by a 48 V on-board power system. The sequence shown is titled E48-02 Transient Overvoltage and is described in the standard as follows: "Transient overvoltages can occur in the 48 V power supply. This test simulates such overvoltages." The most common standards, which are largely covered by REGATRON's high-current, low-voltage G5 DC power supplies, are: LV124, LV148, VDA320, ISO16750-2, ISO21498-2. Other proprietary standards of the worldwide car manufacturers are also covered.

Unparalleled Current-Voltage Range

REGATRON's advanced modular concept allows the digitally controlled operation of power supplies with different power levels in parallel, series, and mixed operation and thus offers high flexibility. Together with each unit's high autoranging factor of 3, REGATRON's power supply systems cover a very large, unparalleled current-voltage range for today's and tomorrow's test requirements.
