Regatron was founded in 1969. From the first days Regatron has delivered technological innovations. In the 1970s Regatron introduced as the Europe-wide first company excitation-controlled asynchronous drives and later the first transistorized inverter drives. In the late 1990s Regatron did pioneer work in developing full digitally controlled high-power switch-mode DC supplies. The development of the famous "Application Area Controlling" - based on a multiple processor architecture - opened up the possibility to give the power source a well defined transfer function. This marked the ultimate break-trough for Regatron power supplies in the field of power simulation and advanced test applications. Some ten years later the introduction of compact fully regenerative DC supplies and AC sources set another much-noticed industry standard.
