Full and Pre-Compliance Test System

REGATRON offers a full compliance and alternatively a pre-compliance test system for EMC emission testing. The full compliance emission test system contains the TC.ACS as grid simulator in combination with the flicker impedance network and the power analyzer LMG671 to measure flicker and harmonics. The pre-compliance EMC emission test system contains the TC.ACS as grid simulator with the option grid impedance simulation in combination with the power anlayzer LMG671 to measure flicker and harmonics. It is designed for those customers who want to be sure that their products will pass the complex and expensive full compliance test at the first attempt. However, they have the necessary full compliance test carried out by a certified testing institute.

The possibility for full compliance testing also depends on the measuring equipment used. The measurement and evaluation of flicker, harmonics and interharmonics must meet the requirements of the standards IEC/EN 61000-4-15 and IEC/EN 61000-4-7. For pre-compliance testing, it is advisable that the measurements can be executed efficiently with the appropriate measuring equipment. The measuring devices do not have to meet the requirements of the standards, but they should come pretty close to them in order to pass a subsequent full compliance test with a very high probability.

Both versions of the EMC emission test system are controlled by the EMC test suite with the integration of LMG671 and the standards package IEC/EN 61000-3-X.

EMC Test Suite

REGATRON’S EMC test suite offers complete EMC emission testing in accordance with the standards in the IEC/EN 61000-3-X standards package. The power analyzer LMG671 is fully integrated into the software for tests according to IEC/EN 61000-3-3 and -3-11. It is configured according to the settings made in the EMC test suite and the measurement is started simultaneously with the AC grid simulation by TC.ACS. The EMC test suite shows the current settings, test progress, current measured values, and ongoing evaluations. After completion of the test, a test report with all measured values and evaluations is automatically generated and saved in pdf and rtf file format. The rtf file format allows the test report to be edited and adapted according to the customer’s needs.

The full integration of the Power Analyzer LMG671 for complete EMC emission tests in accordance with the IEC/EN 61000-3-2 and -3-12 standards will be available soon. Currently, the AC grid that meets the strict requirements of these standards can be simulated for these tests. The necessary measurements and evaluations still have to be performed with the ZES Zimmer software.

TC.ACS Programmable Regenerative AC Power Supply

The multi-level inverter technology of TC.ACS together with a remarkably high switching frequency and digital closed-loop control enables a nearly perfect sinusoidal voltage as requested by IEC/EN 61000-3-2, IEC/EN 61000-3-12, IEC/EN 61000-3-3, and IEC/EN 61000-3-11.

Besides the specific use for EMC emission testing, the great benefit of the TC.ACS solution is the wide use in different applications:

  • Regenerative grid simulator for inverter and on-board charger (OBC) testing
  • Self-contained RLC load mode for anti-islanding testing
  • Various operation modes for load simulation:
    • RLC load mode with specification of the values for resistor, inductor and capacitor
    • Synchronized power mode with set values S/cos(φ) or P/Q
    • Current controlled waveform generator with various functions to simulate load-specific current curves
  • Bidirectional 3-phase high-speed amplifier for versatile use in P-HIL applications
  • Application ranges from a few kVAs scalable up to 2000+ kVA power systems
  • EMC immunity testing also according to IEC/EN 61000-4-X

Grid Impedance Simulation

The optional grid impedance simulation can accurately simulate a wide range of impedance values of real 50/60 Hz AC grids. The simulation of a flicker impedance network with values for Zref and Ztest closely reflects the behavior of a real flicker impedance network. This makes it an ideal solution for pre-compliance testing according to IEC/EN 61000-3-3 and -3-11 standards, eliminating the need for a physical flicker impedance network.

TC.FLK Flicker Impedance Network

The TC.FLK provides both the Zref and Ztest impedance values that are required for the EMC standard tests according to IEC/EN 61000-3-3 and -3-11 in a mobile single cabinet. The impedance values are designed and factory-tested to remain within the tolerances specified by IEC/TR 60725, IEC/EN 61000-3-3 and IEC/EN 61000-3-11 during continuous full-load operation, which exceeds the two-hour requirement for determining long-term flicker Plt.
Besides the ability to switch between Zref and Ztest without rewiring, an additional output socket allows a direct connection to the TC.ACS for testing current harmonics in accordance with the IEC/EN 61000-3-2 and -3-12 standards without the need to rewire the current sensors.

Power Analyzer

The flicker and the current harmonics measurement integrated in the power analyzer LMG671 from the company ZES Zimmer comply with the IEC/EN 61000-4-7 and -4-15 standards. Compliance with these standards is a prerequisite for performing conformity tests in accordance with the standards of the IEC/EN 61000-3-X standards package. The power analyzer LMG671 is fully integrated into hardware and software and is therefore completely compatible with REGATRON’s EMC test system. Thanks to this integration, just one click is needed to carry out complete test sequences up to the printout of an official test report.
