Full and Pre-Compliance Test System

REGATRON offers a full compliance and alternatively a pre-compliance test system for EMC immunity testing. The full compliance immunity test system contains the TC.ACS as grid simulator to generate the AC mains disturbances in combination with the voltage slope enhancer TC.VSE. This combination ensures that the stringent requirements for voltage slope and current peaks for tests according to the standards IEC/EN 61000-4-11, -4-27 and -4-34 are met. TC.VSE is fully controlled by TC.ACS via analog and digital interfaces.
The pre-compliance EMC immunity test system contains only the TC.ACS as grid simulator to generate the AC mains disturbances. It is designed for those customers who want to be sure that their products will pass the complex and expensive full compliance test at the first attempt. However, they have the necessary full compliance test carried out by a certified testing institute. Full compliance tests according to the standards IEC/EN 61000-4-13, -4-14 and -4-28 are also possible with the pre-compliance EMC immunity test system.
Both versions of the EMC immunity test system are controlled by the EMC test suite with the pre-programmed test sequence contained in the standards package IEC/EN 61000-4-X.

EMC Test Suite

REGATRON’S EMC test suite offers complete EMC immunity testing in accordance with the standards in the IEC/EN 61000-4-X standards package. This package contains a large number of pre-programmed test sequences.
For these test sequences the EMC test suite offers a wide range of settings (e.g. EMC class, test partial execution of a test sequence, method for dip vector calculation, …). Beside these settings, a test sequence can be configured according to customer requirements (e.g. add/remove test steps, adjust values and times, …). Optionally, the EMC test suite can ask the operator to enter the DUT status of a test type after completion so that it is visible in the test report.
In addition to these setting and configuration options, the operator has the choice to execute only a part, dedicated steps or the whole test sequence.
After completion of a test, a test report is automatically generated with all performed steps and DUT-states for each test type. This data will be saved in pdf and rtf file format. The rtf file format allows the test report to be edited and adapted according to the customer’s needs.

TC.ACS Programmable Regenerative AC Power Supply

The multi-level inverter technology of TC.ACS together with a remarkably high switching frequency and digital closed-loop control enables to generate the AC mains disturbances as required by the standards IEC/EN 61000-4-X. The integrated waveform generator, which is particularly suitable for periodically repeating signals, enables the simulation of voltage dips, interruptions, variations, overswings, fluctuations, frequency variations, special curves, harmonics and interharmonics in accordance with the standards in the IEC/EN 61000-4-X standards package.

Besides the specific use for EMC immunity testing, the great benefit of the TC.ACS solution is the wide use in different applications:

  • Regenerative grid simulator for inverter and on-board charger (OBC) testing
  • Self-contained RLC load mode for anti-islanding testing
  • Various operation modes for load simulation:
    • RLC load mode with specification of the values for resistor, inductor and capacitor

TC.VSE Voltage Slope Enhancer

For full compliance testing according to the standards IEC/EN 61000-4-11, IEC/EN 61000-4-27 and IEC/EN 61000-4-34, the voltage slope enhancer TC.VSE is required. Main goal of these standard tests is the execution of voltage drops, short interruptions and voltage variations. Switching at any time, not only at zero crossing of the voltage, is mandatory. This leads to high pulse currents with the following characteristics:

  • Voltage slope 1…5 μs
  • Peak currents up to 1000 Apeak
  • Constant current up to 75 ARMS

Due to very fast solid-state switches for switching between two AC lines, the TC.VSE meets the requirement to the voltage slope and by using high performance capacitor packs, the requirement to the current peaks.
