Elegant and Practical: Comprehensive EMC Emission Testing with REGATRON’s latest EMC Test Suite
EMC emission tests according to the IEC/EN 61000-3-3, -3-11 and -3-2 standards are considered complicated and time-consuming. REGATRON refutes these concerns with its latest development for the EMC Test Suite.
Due to the ever-growing number of participants in public low-voltage supply systems, compliance with clearly defined connection standards has become essential. For safety and stability reasons, operators of public supply systems are increasingly demanding proof of rigorous testing as specified in the EMC standards IEC/EN 61000-3-3, -3-11 and -3-2. This is creating a growing need for manufacturers to be able to perform these tests quickly and efficiently.
The existing implementation of REGATRON’s EMC Test Suite already elegantly met this need for tests in accordance with IEC/EN 61000-3-3 and -3-11 (limitation of voltage changes, voltage fluctuations and flicker in public low-voltage supply systems).
Highlights of the latest REGATRON EMC Test Suite
The latest development for further integration of the power analyzer LMG671 from ZES Zimmer now also covers the IEC/EN 61000-3-2 standard (limits for harmonic current emissions) and Annex B of the IEC/EN 61000-3-3 standard (limitation of voltage changes in manually switched devices) and offers:
- Simple and efficient pre- and full-compliance EMC emission testing
- One integrated software: from measurement configuration to test report generation
- One click: Power on, measure, evaluate, generate test report
- The new wizard guides the operator through the tests for manually switched devices in accordance with IEC/EN 61000-3-3 Annex B
The REGATRON Solution
The regenerative AC power supply TC.ACS simulates a nearly perfect and largely harmonic-free 1- or 3-phase AC mains supply that meets the stringent requirements of the standards. The power analyzer LMG671 records the harmonic voltages and currents caused by the DUT (device under test). In the EMC Test Suite, the measured values are processed and evaluated in accordance with the IEC/EN 61000-4-7 and IEC/EN 61000-3-2 standards and compiled in a test report.
The new Wizard for testing manually switched DUT’s in accordance with IEC/EN 61000-3-3 Annex B guides the operator step by step through the test procedure. In accordance with the definitions in the standard, voltage fluctuations and their duration are determined in 24 measurement sections. This eliminates the need for additional evaluation of short-term and long-term flicker. At the end of the test, the measured values are processed in accordance with the standard. The best and worst measured values are sorted out, the mean value for the evaluation is calculated from the remaining values and the test report is generated.
