Modular AC Power Supplies from REGATRON
Along with developing its well-known DC power supplies, REGATRON has also carved out a significant global market position in the field of multifunctional AC systems:
State-of-the-art digital circuit technology, user-friendly modular system architecture and incredibly versatile functionality combined with high system performance leave nothing to be desired!
REGATRON AC Power Supplies at a Glance
The REGATRON AC Power Supply programme is tailored precisely to the needs of all user segments that primarily deal with AC power grids, AC power supplies and machines, chargers, solar components and AC power transmission. Even the smallest basic unit with a continuous output of 30 kVA provides the full range of functions and is therefore perfectly suited for reproducing every conceivable grid situation, for fault simulation, for development, research and quality assurance in the electric energy supply sector. Its ability to feed energy back into the supply grid with high efficiency, as well as its optional single-phase and multi-phase operations provide solutions for almost unlimited fields of application. Other important attributes include modular expandability, intuitive control software and broad interface compatibility.
The consistent modular design of REGATRON power supplies has proven itself exceptionally well in a wide variety of applications. Thanks to their identical system properties, the modules can be configured as individual devices, as any number of module subgroups or as a complete system. The sophisticated high-speed communication bus enables trouble-free scaling up and down of system performance, which means that even in large systems, the outstanding dynamics of a single module are retained! These advantages have clearly convinced many system users worldwide.
Configuration Example based on a 1000 kVA System
The 1000 kVA system shown in Figure 1 consists of four 250 kVA TC.ACS systems. These can be connected individually or in combination up to 1000 kVA.
Up to eight 250 kVA power units for a total output of 2000 kVA can work together. The system concept enables also an output voltage range tailored to the application using ‘Direct Mode’ or ‘Step-up Transformer Mode’. In Direct Mode, the power units operate directly on the output terminals of the system and offer an output voltage range given by intermediate module voltages. In Step-up Transformer Mode, the output voltage range can be expanded by an appropriate transformer.
The display in Figure 1 shows configuration examples of two 1000 kVA systems in ‘Direct’ and ‘Step-up’ modes. Using the ‘System Values’ function, the user can also monitor the electrical values of all subsystems on the GUI.
For load-independent control of the output voltage(s), the ACS system provides precise SENSE equipment that reliably compensates for any voltage drops. System voltages of up to 1000VRMS (L-N) can be achieved.
Remote Switchting Configuration – RSC
The system configurations can either be switched manually via cabling or fully automatically using the RSC unit. The RSC unit is operated directly via the GUI on the control cabinet or via a fieldbus interface in conjunction with an existing automation system. The GUI allows each individual 250 kVA power unit to be assigned as a master or slave.
In addition, the user can choose between low-voltage grids with 305 VAC (L-N) and industrial grids with 500 VAC (L-N). A new configuration is loaded after an automatic restart and visualised on the display. The switching operations required for the configuration are determined and monitored by the RSC unit, and the switching actions are carried out by power switches without any manual intervention.
